One-Stop ShoppingMany shops have become as much a one stop-shop as possible. It is the Wal-Mart concept of having as many services available to the shopper as possible. Service is the key to any flower shop being a cut above the rest! Many shops specialize in weddings for instance. Depending on location a size of the shop, a bride can book her flower order for the wedding, the reception, any parties, before and after. An all inclusive shop can offer tuxedo rental, dress purchase or rental, flowers and plants to purchase or rent, gifts for the attendants, candelabras, fountains, aisle runners, for the indoor wedding, gazebos, tables, dinnerware, and chairs for an outdoor wedding. If a florist does not rent hard good, they very often have the names of companies where such items may be found. Today’s weddings tend to be on a smaller scale that in the past due to overall costs. We are not discounting the bride who has an unlimited budget here. The “average” wedding costs between $20 and $25,000. A bride can structure her wedding so that the most amount of money is spent on her clothes, her flowers, or her honeymoon. Typically, the florist is the last person to be contacted about the wedding. Sometimes this creates a situation for a florist and the bride, that being the bride has already spent a large amount of money on everything else leaving a small budget for a wedding. That is not a problem unless she has a beer budget and champagne tastes! A florist (with a heart) wants to give a bride the wedding of her dreams but cannot do so without equal budget consideration. As mentioned before, many florists have silk flower bouquets, corsages and boutineers, church and reception table arrangements, making a wedding affordable when budgets are limited. |
